ATSⓇ Belly Dance
This 6 Week Cycle repeats indefinitely!
It is designed so you can start at any time.
Using both slow movements and fast steps we’ll get you dancing in your first class! Learn all the basic tribal belly dance steps in a six-week cycle incorporating core strength and posture. Plus, intro to zils (finger cymbals). This class is perfect for learning the foundations of ATS® Belly Dance. It is also the ideal class for those of you that have NEVER Belly Danced before.
No prior experience needed.

American Tribal StyleⓇ (ATSⓇ) Belly Dance is characterized by dancing with one or more dancers, emphasis on posture, structured improvisation, clear concise music and "Gypsy" style costumes. There is a basic language of movements used with cues and transitions. American Tribal StyleⓇ is a very empowering, earthy style of belly dance.
It's roots can be traced to the dances that evolved as the Gypsies traveled through India, Central Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and Spain...the Romany Trail.
As a student of Culture Shakti, you will be gently guided along your dance journey. By gracefully enjoying each step of the way, you will progress at the pace that is best suited for you. Our students shine when it's showtime!
What to wear for ATSⓇ Belly Dance: Full skirt (required), hip scarf, short top (or tank top). Bare feet or dance slippers only in dance studio (We recommend black canvas ballet slippers.) You will also need a pair of zils (finger cymbals). Most of these items are available in our studio store. (Open 30 min before each class.)
Learn Bhangra w/Shawn Ghuman Singh
This class is for beginners with little or no background in dancing. Class starts with a basic warm up followed by instruction on techniques and form of Bhangra. Each week participants also have the opportunity to learn a piece of Bhangra choreography to a popular dance floor hit. We will help you bring your movement in sync with the music. No previous dance experience is necessary – just bring in your smile!
Bhangra was born as a folk dance to celebrate the warm harvest festival in Punjab, the northern state of India, and Pakistan. While it ushered the joyous month of harvest, it filled the air with sounds of drums, vocals and claps. Giving away the warm patriotism and music full of excitement. Bhangra took the form of boliyan (short poems) accompanied with the bass of the Dhol (drum). Suitable for men & women!

Inspired by the high energy music from Indian films, our Bollywood class combines traditional Indian folk and classical dance.Bollywood dance includes many forms of movement and dance such as hip hop, jazz, Latin and Middle-eastern dance. You will learn technique and choreography that incorporate rhythmic, full body movement. With music that will keep you energized, engaged and excited, this high energy, non-stop cardio and strength building dance class is designed to help you tone and build endurance. Class is suitable for all levels, no dance experience required.
